Everything you need to know about registration and the application process.
ECOSOCC (Economic, Social and Cultural Council) is an advisory organ of the African Union that provides a platform for African civil society organizations to participate in AU policy processes and decision-making.
Accredited organizations can participate in ECOSOCC General Assembly sessions, contribute to AU policy dialogue, access continental networks, and represent civil society at the African Union level.
The platform is currently available in English, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili — the six working languages of the African Union.
Any African civil society organization that meets the eligibility criteria under Article 9 of the ECOSOCC Statute can apply. This includes NGOs, community-based organizations, professional associations, and other non-governmental entities.
No. Organizations must have been registered and continuously operating for at least 3 years to be eligible for ECOSOCC accreditation.
Your organization must have at least 50% African ownership and management, and at least 50% of its basic resources must be sourced nationally or from Africa.
The online application form typically takes 1–2 hours to complete, depending on how readily available your organization’s documents are. You can save your progress and return at any time.
You will need your organization’s registration certificate, most recent audit statements (within the last 2 years), and proof of membership in your National ECOSOCC Chapter.
The review process typically takes up to 30 days after the application deadline closes. You will be notified of the outcome via email and through the platform.
Once submitted, your application cannot be edited. However, if the review team requires corrections or additional information, they will notify you and you will be able to make the requested changes.
